Non-Alcoholic Aperol Spritz Recipe with Lyre’s Italian Spritz

Non-Alcoholic Aperol Spritz Cocktail with Lyre’s Italian Spritz

It’s rare for a cocktail to feel classic yet modern all at the same time. But with the Aperol Spritz, that’s exactly what you get.

Born as the Spritz Veneziano, this wine-based cocktail has been served in Northern Italy for nearly two centuries, after German soldiers asked tavern owners to dilute the high-alcohol wines of the region with a splash of water - AKA “spritzen” in German (by the way, if you're looking for a delicious way to enjoy wine without the alcohol, look no further than YOURS Non-Alcoholic California Red Blend). This tradition continued until the 1950’s, when locals began adding the Italian bitter aperitif Aperol to the mixture of water and wine. And with that, the Aperol Spritz was born!

YOURS Non-Alcoholic Wine

While decidedly popular during warm Italian summers, this cocktail never really caught on outside of the country. That is, until 2003, when the Aperol brand was acquired by spirits conglomerate Campari Group, who quickly expanded the reach of the cocktail in order to sell more product. By 2018, the Aperol Spritz reached a tipping point, exploding in popularity across the globe as drinkers everywhere flocked to its refreshing taste and bright, bold colors.

Of course, like all cocktails that consist primarily of alcoholic ingredients, making a non-alcoholic version of the Aperol Spritz has remained an impossible challenge. That is, until recently, when Lyre’s Spirit Co. released their newest blend, Lyre’s Italian Spritz. Incorporating the same bitter flavors and bright orange hue, this alcohol-free spirit has opened up a whole new world of non-alcoholic cocktails, including the elusive Non-Alcoholic Aperol Spritz Recipe.
