Non-Alcoholic Red Wine Negroni Recipe

Non-Alcoholic Red Wine Negroni

Italian cocktails are having a moment.

First, it was the explosion of the Aperol Spritz a few years back. More recently, the Negroni has been making the rounds as the trendy cocktail du jour. Traditionally crafted using a blend of gin, vermouth, and Campari - a bitter Italian liqueur - the Negroni cocktail first appeared in Florence right around the end of World War I. But it wasn’t until famed director and writer Orson Welles mentioned the drink by name in a 1947 newspaper interview - conducted remotely while Welles was in Rome - that the Negroni began rising to prominence outside of Italy. According to Welles, the balance of the “good for you” bitters and “bad for you” gin was the perfect combination.

Welles may have been on to something…and today we’re going to take it one step further, showing you how to craft a Negroni without compromise.

While there are plenty of ways to craft a non-alcoholic Negroni that use direct replacements for the gin, vermouth, and Campari, our recipe is going to be a little more adventurous. After all, the Negroni is known to be one of the more versatile cocktails, will all sorts of delicious variations and substitutions. Today we’re going to create a Non-Alcoholic Red Wine Negroni.
