Review: Be Well Non-Alcoholic Wine

Be Well Non-Alcoholic Wines

For many non-alcoholic wine drinkers, finding a needle in a haystack would be a welcomed respite from searching for an alcohol-free brand they love. Unfortunately, for all the great bottles of NA wine on the market, there are dozens more that just don’t make the cut. Which means it’s all the more special when you come across a brand that offers not just one, but multiple delicious non-alcoholic wines.

That’s the exact feeling we had when we came across Be Well Non-Alcoholic Wines.

Available exclusively (as far as we can tell) at Total Wine & More stores, one of the largest alcohol retailers in the United States, Be Well is a brand out of the Pacific Northwest offering two alcohol-free wine varieties: Be Well Non-Alcoholic Cabernet Sauvignon, and Be Well Non-Alcoholic Chardonnay.

[Psst. Hey you…looking for a non-alcoholic wine you’ll love? Be sure to check out our private Facebook community - Non-Alcoholic Wine Reviews - to learn more about our favorite alcohol-free red, white, and sparkling wines!]

We first heard of Be Well via several online communities dedicated to alcohol-free beverages. While most non-alcoholic wines seem to be pretty polarizing with drinkers, Be Well was one of the first brands we saw to get consistently positive feedback and reviews. So, we hopped in the car and made the two-hour journey to our closest Total Wine & More location to see what the buzz was all about.

Returning home with our bounty, the YOURS team sat down and gave Be Well Non-Alcoholic Wine a full review. Read on to learn more about these fan favorite alcohol-free wines.

Review: Be Well Non-Alcoholic Chardonnay

Be Well Non-Alcoholic Chardonnay

When you think of Chardonnay, chances are you start dreaming about that oaky, buttery richness that defines this style of wine. Unfortunately, most non-alcoholic Chardonnays miss the mark in replicating this flavor-forward experience.

But not Be Well Non-Alcoholic Chardonnay.

From the moment we poured ourselves a chilled glass, we could tell this alcohol-free wine was going to be different. The color is pristine, and the aroma carries notes of fresh fruit and oak. And when you take that first sip? All the things you know and love about Chardonnay come rushing forward. A touch of apple. A hint of oak. Subtle sweetness of honey. Be Well brings it all together into one of the best non-alcoholic chardonnays we've ever tasted.

Light, refreshing, and beautifully balanced, we were immediately convinced that the hype around Be Well Non-Alcoholic Chardonnay was real. It was so enjoyable, in fact, that our first bottle didn’t even survive the afternoon. And at a certain point we had to remind ourselves that there was a whole other style we needed to sit down and enjoy…

Review: Be Well Non-Alcoholic Cabernet Sauvignon

Be Well Non-Alcoholic Cabernet

Thoroughly impressed with our alcohol-free white wine tasting experience, next up was Be Well Non-Alcoholic Cabernet Sauvignon. Opening the bottle, we were hit with the aroma of rich plum and dark cherry, both of which carried over as we tasted our first sip. There we also slight hits of cocoa powder that came on towards the end.

Like most non-alcoholic red wine, Be Well suggests that you enjoy their alcohol-free Cab chilled. To be perfectly honest, we’re not huge fans of this strategy. While it does help create a thicker consistency on the tongue, we feel that chilled red wine is a major departure from how we would enjoy a traditional glass of red, and as such, it takes away from the experience. That said, we did enjoy both a room temperature glass as well as a chilled glass, and the chilled glass ended up being much more pleasant that we had anticipated.

Of course, like all non-alcoholic red wine, you need to have realistic expectations on the missing “heat” of the alcohol. Be Well Alcohol-Free Cab doesn’t have the bite most would associate with a traditional glass of red. Though in the end it was our general feeling that the great mix of rich flavors and aromas more than made up for this, and definitely placed this bottle onto our list of best non-alcoholic red wines.

Final Thoughts: Be Well Non-Alcoholic Wine

Overall, both Be Well Non-Alcoholic Wines lived up to the hype and our expectations. While certainly not perfect, both varieties offered a very enjoyable drinking experience.

In our eyes, Be Well Non-Alcoholic Chardonnay is the clear winner of the two. It just does such a great job replicating that rich, buttery West Coast white, and is definitely high on our list of best tasting non-alcoholic wines ever. That said, Be Well Non-Alcoholic Cabernet Sauvignon is a very palatable wine, and one that will continue to find itself in our rotation of regular favorites.

If you’re looking for a brand of alcohol-free wines that check all the right boxes, and you live within driving distance of Total Wine & More, we highly recommend exploring Be Well Non-Alcoholic Wines.

It may just be the needle in the haystack you’re looking for…
